Welcome to the Indian Impact Schools of Montana (IISM) website.  Impact Aid funding was created in 1950 under the Truman Administration and is the oldest K-12 Federal Education program.  School Districts across the nation have Federal properties within their district that generate no local taxes to support their programs.  Impact Aid was created to fill that gap and is the federal governments' acknowledgment of its obligation to the local school district for educating children residing on Indian lands.  Montana has 67 individual schools receiving Impact Aid.  The first district to join IISM was East Glacier.  Our largest member district is Browning and the smallest is Cooke City.

Please take a moment to review President Guardipee-Hall's letter to our members.  We appreciate your membership and look forward to serving you and your District.
